Rachel Laufer
Pitcher and Third Base

Rachel Laufer plays Pitcher, Third Base, and Outfield.  She joined the BarnCats in 2005 and this is her 5th year in the league.  She has also played on the DC Thunder, the EWBC tournament team.  When she is not playing baseball she plays Fast Pitch Softball and is a student at Wootton High School.

She wears lucky jersey number 8 for favorite player Cal Ripken. Rachel has earned the BarnCats Most Improved Player Award twice, in 2006 and 2007.  In 2007 she received the Gold Glove Award for the DC Thunder in the Women's Baseball Diamond Classic tournament.  She also made Second Team All Gazette for high school Softball players two consecutive years, 2008 and 2009.

Rachel plays for three other teams including her high school Softball team, the Wootton Patriots, the Diamondbacks in the Rockville Baseball Association Senior Division, and MVSA Storm Yellow travel Softball tournament team.

Rachel is writing her Senior Independent Project for the Humanities and Arts Scholars Program at Wootton on the Art of Forgery in the Digital Age. This summer she completed a science internship at USAMRIID in Ft. Detrick and has plans to study Chemistry in college.
